Rhinoplasty in Korea: the guide to read before your first consult

Nose surgery is one of the most common reasons people fly to Seoul. Here's what's worth understanding before you message clinics.

Know what you're actually asking for

  • Tip work only (tip plasty): reshaping a bulbous or droopy tip without touching the bridge
  • Bridge augmentation: raising a low bridge, with an implant (silicone, Gore-Tex) or cartilage
  • Alar reduction: narrowing wide nostrils
  • Full rhinoplasty / revision: combinations of the above, sometimes with septum work

It's completely normal to ask for one thing and say no to the rest. How a clinic reacts to "no" tells you a lot. See tip-only rhinoplasty.

Questions to ask every clinic

  • Who operates, and are they a board-certified plastic surgeon?
  • Which cartilage would you use (septum, ear, rib, donor) and why? See rib vs ear vs septum, explained
  • Implant or no implant, and what's the plan if I ever want it removed?
  • What exactly does the price include: anaesthesia, CT, meds, follow-ups?
  • How many days do you want me in Seoul, and when is the cast/splint removed?

How long to stay

Most people plan around the splint and stitch removal plus a check-up, often 7–14 days, longer with rib cartilage or revisions. Your clinic sets the real number, and build in a buffer. Discussion: how long did you plan to stay?

Swelling is a long game

The tip can stay swollen for months. Judging results at week two is a recipe for panic. If something feels genuinely wrong (increasing pain, redness, fever), contact your clinic.
