My partner thinks I don't need anything. How do you have that conversation?

Not looking for anyone to take sides. He's not controlling about it, just genuinely confused why I'd want to change anything and a bit worried about me flying across the world for surgery. How did you all talk about it with someone close?

What helped me was showing the actual research, not just the "I want it". Plans, how long I'd stay, what I'd do if something went wrong. A lot of the worry was about safety, not the procedure itself.

"You don't need it" is usually love, even if it's frustrating to hear. I told mine it's not about needing, it's about something that bothers me daily.

That framing is good. He's coming from a kind place, just didn't get it.

Also fine to take it slow. Bringing him to a video consult might make it feel less mysterious.

Mine came around once he realised I'd been planning for a year and not on a whim.
