Thermage vs Ulthera — anyone found a plain-English explainer?

Every derm menu has both, sometimes 3 versions of each. I get they're "lifting" devices but I don't get what's different or who each one is for.

Simplest version I've seen: both heat deeper layers to tighten. Ulthera is ultrasound and targets specific depths (often used for lifting along the jaw/brow). Thermage is radiofrequency, more for overall firming/texture. Lots of clones exist too, so ask which actual device and how many shots/lines.

And ask how it's priced. Shots vs area vs "full face" can make two quotes impossible to compare.

Every derm I messaged suggested one of these alongside the surgery talk. I'm asking whether it makes sense before or after surgery, or at all.

Following. My mum is curious about these for her jawline.
