Contact lenses after double eyelid surgery — how long do people usually wait?

I wear contacts every single day and my glasses are ancient and honestly kind of embarrassing for photos lol. For anyone who's researched it: is going back to contacts something you ask about at the consult, or is it more of a "they'll tell you at the stitch removal" thing?

Trying to work out whether I need to buy new glasses before the trip.

Ask at the consult, definitely. It changes what you pack. From what I've read the answer varies a lot between incisional and non-incisional and depends on how your healing looks at the check, so nobody here can really give you a number.

buy the glasses. even if you're cleared early your eyes might be dry and irritated for a while and you'll be glad to have a backup that doesn't make you sad

Also worth asking about eye drops/ointment and whether you can use your usual ones. I added a line to my question list: "contacts, eye makeup, eye drops — when, and who decides?"

Same situation here. If your eyes get red, painful or your vision changes, contact the clinic straight away rather than waiting it out, that's one thing everyone agrees on.

Good call on the eye drops question. I'd never have thought to ask whether my usual ones are okay.
